But a few simple tricks of "t-shirt maintenance" can really help your t-shirts last longer. You can make them last longer if you care for them properly.

Tips for Taking Care of T-shirts

  • Check the wash instructions label in your T-shirt.
  • Always use cool water while washing T-shirt.
  • Use gentle cycles in washing T shirts in washing machine.
  • If you have a white T shirt, don't mix it with other colored clothes. Rather wash all the white stuff together.
  • Use a mild detergent to wash your T shirt.
  • Do not throw your t-shirts in the dryer. Even if you only tumble, dry your t-shirts on a low heat setting. Drying clothes also make them to shrink a little bit each time. Instead hang them out to air dry.
  • Turn your T shirt inside-out if you dry it directly under the sun. In this way, the colors remain intact for a long time. You can also hang your T shirt indoors as they dry rather quickly.
  • Do not iron printed or embroidered areas of the T shirt.
  • Lastly, when you keep your nicely washed and ironed T shirt hanging in the wardrobe, take care when hanging them on hangars. As this can stretch out your collar eventually. Instead it is better to lay them flat on the shelves of your closet.
